CHICAGO (April 3, 2009) – Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in data management solutions that enable the exchange of health information, announced today that Initiate® Interoperable Health will be a featured solution in the HIMSS09 Interoperability Showcase. The Showcase is part of the 2009 Annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition from April 4-8, 2009. Designed as a HIMSS Health Information Exchange (HIE)-based environment, the Showcase includes clinical scenarios enabled by the standards-based Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) framework and the Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel (HITSP) federally recognized Interoperability Specifications.
Initiate successfully tested portions of the HITSP federally recognized Interoperability Specifications with Initiate Interoperable Health at the IHE 2009 Connectathon in February. Passing the HITSP tests at the Connectathon, the Healthcare Information Technology (HIT) industry's largest interoperability testing event, earned Initiate the “HITSP Implementer” designation and a prominent position in the Showcase.
Initiate Senior Solutions Architect Bill Klaver will be one of the leaders of the “infrastructure tours” offered during the four days of the Showcase, Sunday, April 5, through Wednesday, April 8. Tour times will be announced later. Chris Voigt, Executive Consultant with Initiate partner CGI Federal, Inc., will support Klaver during the showcase presentation: “IHE in the Real World”.
“We will be explaining the importance of an integrated healthcare enterprise, the infrastructure needed, and giving implementation examples from the field,” Klaver said.
The Initiate Interoperable Health solution helps healthcare organizations achieve objectives targeted at reducing medical errors by improving access to patient information at all points of care; increasing operational efficiencies by recognizing patients across all points of registration; and, lowering costs by reducing resources required for data quality and management.
The HIMSS09 Interoperability Showcase (booth #7750) is only one aspect of Initiate’s prominent presence at the conference. Twelve Initiate customers will be featured speakers at the conference, and more than 15 Initiate technology and consulting partners will be exhibiting. In the HIT industry as a whole, Initiate’s proven solutions are in use today in more than 100 healthcare organizations worldwide – from hospitals, independent delivery networks (IDNs) and regional health information organizations (RHIOs) to payers, retail pharmacies and government health agencies.
