Presbyterian Healthcare Services Taps Initiate Systems For Interoperable Health Solution

Initiate Patient™ Enables New Mexico’s Largest Healthcare Organization to Better Know and Serve Its Community of Customers

CHICAGO (February 25, 2009)Initiate Systems, Inc., a leader in master data management (MDM) and interoperable health solutions, announced today that Presbyterian Healthcare Services (PHS) selected Initiate Patient™ to support its enterprise-wide call center initiative, Presbyterian Customer Service Center (PCSC), planned for late 2010. In the meantime, PHS has begun the project by deploying Initiate Patient to integrate disparate patient and member information to obtain a single, comprehensive view of its customers. This first crucial step will enable call center agents to gain more valuable and accurate insight into their callers, leading to more streamlined call routing and improved customer service.

Presbyterian Healthcare Services is the only private, not-for-profit system of hospitals, a health plan and a growing medical group in New Mexico. Its eight hospitals, physicians, caregivers and insurance plans serve more than 700,000 New Mexicans, caring for one in three New Mexicans with at least one of its services.

With Initiate Patient, PHS will have a unified system for managing information for each of its customers. When their customers begin using the new call center, it will be much easier to answer questions and route calls to ensure customers’ needs are quickly met. PHS also will leverage the Initiate Patient solution to accurately manage data exchange for the more than half a million members enrolled in its health plan, ensuring that call center agents and care givers can view member status from all points of service.

“In support of our enterprise-wide customer service center initiative, we selected Initiate Patient to provide the unified view of patient data at the point of registration and to improve our understanding of patients as member-customers,” said Donna Agnew, CIO, Presbyterian Healthcare Services. “However, as the call center initiative gets underway we learned more about the product, and we realized that it could address other health information exchange
needs in our organization now. We are also using it to link all the disparate data sources within the hospital and in our health insurance systems.”

Initiate Patient is an interoperable health solution used by healthcare organizations and government agencies to transform critical business processes by delivering higher quality information to them. Initiate Patient delivers a comprehensive, single view of patients to end-users in real time at the point of care. In an environment where this information is generated within and across boundaries, Initiate supports secure and effective sharing of health information and knowledge through complete, trusted views of patients, members, providers, organizations and their relationships – a capability critical for operating efficient healthcare ecosystems.

“Accurately identifying and understanding patient and customer data is one of the most important requirements of healthcare systems,” said Lorraine Fernandes, vice president, healthcare industry ambassador, Initiate Systems. “By selecting Initiate Patient, PHS can ensure it is able to access valuable and critical patient, member or customer data whenever and wherever it is required. In addition, our technology provides the flexibility to address Presbyterian’s evolving needs.”

Initiate Systems will be participating in HIMSS09 Annual Conference and Exhibition, April 4-8, 2009 at McCormick Place, Chicago. Visit Initiate Systems at booth 2048 and discover how Initiate® Interoperable Health delivers high quality information to healthcare enterprise processes, driving more informed decision making, increased efficiencies and reduced costs.
